Educator Certification: GACE

Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) in the College of Education have been continuously accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) (now Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)) since 1955. EPPs are also reviewed and approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC).

Students in all EPPs must pass the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE) exams to satisfy program admission requirements and to qualify for an institutional recommendation for certification upon program completion. GACE Content Knowledge Assessment Tests must be passed for program completers to be recommended to the GAPSC for initial certification.

Based on the quality of student cohorts and historical successes with respect to GACE pass rates, the College of Education uses a benchmark of 90% to indicate success. EPP completers continue to consistently meet and exceed the thresholds set by the College of Education.
